Oscar Ybarra, a psychologist from the University of Michigan, asked more than 3,500 people ages 24 to 96 about their social interactions and then tested their working memories. He found that the more social contact there was, the higher level of mental function.
He followed up by saying, “There’s a widespread belief in this culture that the way to maintain your sharpness is to do technical and intellectual activities, but this study suggests that simply talking to one another can do it.” -From Margaret Nesbitt, columnist
